2024 MLB MVP Winners (Sports)
November 21, 2024
Earlier today, MLB announced the MVP awards for the National League and American League, with Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani and New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge winning the honors, respectively.
Ohtani previously won the AL MVP awards unanimously in 2021 and 2023 with the Angels. Ohtani wins his third unanimous MVP award in his first season in the NL with the Dodgers where he hit .310 with 54 home runs and 130 RBI. He led the NL in home runs, RBIs, and OPS. Ohtani also stole 59 bases, and was the first player in MLB history to have a season with at least 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases.
Judge previously won the AL MVP award in 2022 and wins his second MVP award in 2024. He hit .322 with 58 home runs and 144 RBIs for the Yankees this season. Judge also led the AL in OPS, home runs, and RBIs. Judge has hit at least 50 home runs in two of the last three season, including 62 in 2022.
Both Ohtani and Judge met in this year’s World Series, and their individual performances during the series didn’t result in the strongest individual performances that fans anticipated. Both players had a strong regular season and were a huge part of getting their teams to the postseason. They both made history during the season, and ended the season with unanimous MVP honors.
