The 2025 Australian Open has concluded, with Madison Keys and Jannik Sinner taking home the titles.
WTA
(No. 19) Madison Keys def (No. 1) Aryna Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5
American Madison Keys wins her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open by defeating World No. 1 and two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in three sets. Sabalenka struggled with her serve in the first set, allowing Keys to capitalize and win 6-3. The World No. 1 rebounded to take the second set and force a third. At 5-6 in the final set, Sabalenka was serving to stay in the match, but Keys hit a return winner and capitalized on Sabalenka’s errors to break serve and win the Australian Open title.
Keys navigated a challenging draw en route to her first Grand Slam title, defeating current or former Top-10 players Danielle Collins, Elena Rybakina, and Elina Svitolina in the third round, fourth round, and quarterfinals, respectively. She followed that up with close wins over the current Top-2 ranked players, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, to secure the title.
With her breakthrough Grand Slam title win, Keys moves up to No. 7 in the world rankings, matching her career-high ranking last achieved in 2016.
