The third Grand Slam of the season, Wimbledon, begins next Monday, but two Top 10 contenders—Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek—will first face off in the Bad Homburg Open final, just two days before the major begins.
(No. 4) Iga Switek def. (No. 2) Jasmine Paolini 6-1, 6-3
Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek advanced to her first career grass-court final with a dominant straight-sets wim over 2024 Wimbledon runner-up Jasmine Paolini at the Bad Homburg Open.
Swiatek extended her head-to-head record against Paolini to 5–0, in control of the match from start to finish. She broke Paolini three times in a dominant first set and maintained control throughout the second. Although both players traded breaks early in the second set, Paolini continued to struggle with her serve, allowing Swiatek to take a 4–2 lead. Swiatek sealed the win with a forehand winner on her third match point, converting five of ten break point opportunities in the match.
Swiatek will face top-seeded Jessica Pegula in the final on Sunday, marking her first tour-level final of the 2025 season and her debut in a grass-court final.
(No. 1) Jessica Pegula def. Linda Noskova 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-1
Top seed Jessica Pegula had a gritty comeback to defeat unseeded Linda Noskova and reach the final in Bad Homburg.
Noskova took the first set in a tiebreak and led 5–4 in the second set, just two points away from closing out the match. However, Pegula dug deep to break serve and force a decisive third set. From that point forward, Pegula found her rhythm, improved her return game, and won 10 of the last 11 games to complete the comeback.
With the win, Pegula improves to 5–0 in semifinals in 2025. She now aims for her third title of the season and first since capturing the Credit One Charleston Open in April.
Pegula will face Iga Swiatek in the final, whom she trails 4–6 in their career head-to-head. However, Pegula has won three of their last five meetings, including two of three matchups last year.
