2025 Halle Open: Alexander Bublik Wins Second Halle Title with Straight-Sets Win Over Daniil Medvedev

Alexander Bublik def. (No. 3) Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (4)

Alexander Bublik wins his second title at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, Germany, with a straight-sets win over Daniil Medvedev on Sunday. Bublik, who also won the grass-court tournament in 2023, becomes just the third player in tournament history to win the title more than once, joining three-time champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov and 10-time winner Roger Federer.

Bublik came out firing, dominating with his serve and using a mix of powerful groundstrokes and crafty drop shots. He built a 12-point winning streak on his way to taking the first set, putting Medvedev on the back foot early.

Bublik’s level dipped slightly in the second set, hitting five double faults after producing none in the first. Still, he managed to hold off Medvedev’s push. Medvedev was in position to force a decider with a 4-1 lead in the second-set tiebreak, but consecutive backhand errors opened the door for Bublik. Bublik capitalized on those errors and reeled off six straight points and converting his first match point to seal the win.

The win marks Bublik’s fifth ATP Tour title and his first since winning in Montpellier in February 2024. He also climbs 15 spots in the ATP Rankings, moving up to No. 30 in the world.
