2025 Monte-Carlo Masters Final Recap

Carlos Alcaraz started his clay court season winning his sixth career ATP Masters 1000 title, and his first at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, defeating Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.

Musetti entered the match having lost his last three meetings against Alcaraz and struggled at the beginning of the first set. He was broken in the opening game after leading 30-15 and failed to convert three break points the following game to go down 0-2. Musetti eventually broke back in a five-deuce game and won four straight games on his way to taking the first set.

However, the momentum quickly shifted in the second set. Alcaraz stormed through winning 6-1, dominating the baseline rallies and exposing Musetti’s limited movement. In the final set, Musetti’s physical struggles became more apparent. After being broken to trail 0-3, he took a medical timeout to treat an upper right leg issue. Although he returned to play, his movement was compromised, as he was unable to run at full speed. Alcaraz took full control, winning 12 of the last 14 points to close out the match.

This win marks Alcaraz’s third consecutive clay-court final, following his 2024 French Open title and silver medal performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With the win, he moves up to No. 2 in the world rankings, overtaking Alexander Zverev, who suffered an early exit in the second round.
