World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka wins the 2025 Miami Open title with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over fourth-seeded Jessica Pegula in a rematch of the 2024 US Open final.
Sabalenka started strong with an early break in the first set, but Pegula responded by winning three consecutive games to take a 3-2 lead. With the set tied at 5-5, Sabalenka held serve at love for a 6-5 advantage, then broke Pegula at love with three consecutive winners to claim the set.
Pegula fought back early in the second set, securing a break to gain a brief lead. However, Sabalenka quickly regained control, winning four straight games to take a commanding 4-1 lead. She closed out the match in dominant fashion, breaking Pegula at 5-2 to win the title without dropping a set throughout the tournament. Sabalenka’s aggressive baseline play was the key to victory, as she hit 31 winners—almost three times Pegula’s total of 12.
With the win, Sabalenka improves to 7-2 in her head-to-head record against Pegula, having won their last three meetings.
