No. 8 Florida completely dominated top-ranked Tennessee earlier tonight, winning in dominant fashion, 73-43. Florida handed Tennessee their first loss of the season, marking the first time in program history they have beaten a No. 1 team at home.
Florida took control of the game in the first half with a 34-15 lead. The Gators held Tennessee to just 4 of 29 from the field and 0 of 14 from behind the arc. Nothing was working for Tennessee, as they scored their first points off a free throw about seven minutes into the game. Tennessee ended the game shooting 12 of 56 from the field, 4 of 29 from behind the arc, and 15 of 24 on free throws.
Tennessee, which had been the No. 1 team in the country for most of the season, will now drop in the rankings. Florida, on the other hand, will gain a few spots and have shown that they can compete with the top teams in the SEC this season.
