2025 NFL Conference Championship Round Recap

This year’s NFL Conference Championship Round has officially concluded, and the Super Bowl 59 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles is set for February 9th in New Orleans.

No. 2 Philadelphia Eagles def. No. 6 Washington Commanders 55-23

The Eagles dominate the Commanders 55-23, setting the record for the most points scored in a conference title game. Jalen Hurts delivered his best performance of the playoffs, throwing for 246 yards on 20-of-28 passing with one touchdown and adding 16 yards on 10 carries for three rushing touchdowns. Saquon Barkley also had a strong game, rushing for 118 yards on 15 carries and scoring three touchdowns, including a 60-yard touchdown on his first carry of the game.

The Commanders didn’t play poorly overall, successfully converting several key third and fourth downs. However, turnovers proved costly as they gave up an interception and three fumbles. The Eagles capitalized, scoring three touchdowns off each of the fumbles, which ultimately sealed the win for them.

After a slow start to the season, the Eagles finished strong, earning a trip to Super Bowl 59. They will face the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowl 57.

No. 1 Kansas City Chiefs def. No. 2 Buffalo Bills 32-29

Patrick Mahomes had a strong performance, throwing for 245 yards on 18-of-26 passing with one touchdown and rushing for 43 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns.

The Bills managed to tie the game at 29-29 in the fourth quarter, but the Chiefs were able to work their way down the field on the ensuing possession to score a field goal with 3:33 left in the game. Buffalo faced a do-or-die situation on their next drive but failed to convert on a critical fourth-down play as the Chiefs’ defense came up with a clutch stop.

The Bills continue to struggle against the Chiefs in the postseason, losing all four playoff meetings since 2020. They also dropped their eighth straight road playoff game, while Josh Allen fell to 0-2 in AFC Championship appearances.

The Chiefs now have a chance at a championship three-peat and will face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. This will be a rematch of Super Bowl 57, where the Chiefs defeated the Eagles to win the championship.
