(No. 9) Mirra Andreeva def. (No. 1) Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-4, 6-3
Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva came from a set down to defeat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, to win the title in Indian Wells. The win marks Andreeva’s second straight WTA 1000 title, following her win in Dubai last month.
Andreeva navigated a difficult draw on her way to the title, securing back-to-back wins over the top two players in the world, Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek. Her run also included victories over Varvara Gracheva, 22nd seed Clara Tauson (in a rematch of the Dubai final), 7th seed Elena Rybakina, and 23rd seed Elina Svitolina.
Heading into the final, Andreeva had never beaten Sabalenka on a hard court, having lost all four of their previous meetings, including two earlier this season at the Brisbane International and the Australian Open.
Sabalenka dominated the opening set, capitalizing on Andreeva’s inability to convert any of her five break points. However, Andreeva regrouped in the second set, securing a crucial break in the third game to shift the momentum in her favor to win the set. From there, she forced Sabalenka into errors and took control of the match, including winning three consecutive breaks in the final set to close out the win.
The win gives Andreeva her second career WTA 1000 title and will bring her to a career-high ranking of No. 6 when the new WTA Rankings are released on Monday.

(No. 13) Jack Draper def. (No. 12) Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2
Jack Draper wins his first Masters 1000 title with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over Holger Rune in just 69 minutes at Indian Wells. The win marks the fastest men’s singles final at the tournament in the last decade, breaking the previous record of 77 minutes set in the 2016 final between Novak Djokovic and Milos Raonic.
Draper had lost his only previous meeting with Rune, falling 6-4, 6-2 at last year’s Cincinnati Masters. However, he completely flipped the outcome this time, dominating the match in straight sets. The match was one-sided, with Draper holding a 21-7 advantage in winners while committing 16 unforced errors compared to Rune’s 21.
Draper also dominated with his left-handed serve, hitting 10 aces, winning 21 of 23 first-serve points, and never facing a break point.
Draper had a tough draw on his path to the title, defeating the two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and securing wins over Americans Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.
With the win, Draper will rise from No. 14 to a career-high No. 7 in the ATP rankings on Monday, breaking into the top 10 for the first time in his career.
