Oilers Rally from 3-Goal Deficit, Win Game 4 against Panters in Overtime to Even Stanley Cup Final

Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final was one of the most chaotic and thrilling games in recent memory. The Florida Panthers jumped out to an early 3–0 lead in the first period, forcing the Edmonton Oilers to pull starting goaltender Stuart Skinner in favor of Calvin Pickard.

The Oilers responded by scoring three goals in the second period to tie the game at 3–3. Defenseman Jake Walman then gave Edmonton a 4–3 lead with 6:24 left in the third period, completing the remarkable turnaround. However, Sam Reinhart scored with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime tied 4–4.

In the overtime period, Leon Draisaitl delivered once again, scoring the game winning goal at 11:18 to give the Oilers a 5–4 win and even the series at 2–2. The goal was Draisaitl’s fourth overtime winner of the 2025 playoffs, setting a new NHL record for most overtime goals in a single playoff run. He also set the regular-season record earlier this year with six overtime game winners.

Calvin Pickard was excellent as the relief goaltender, stopping 22 of 23 shots including 18 straight saves before Reinhart’s goal that sent the game to overtime. It was his second consecutive game stepping in for Skinner, whose performance has declined throughout the series.

Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with the series now down to a best-of-three.
