(No. 1) Jannik Sinner def. (No. 10) Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner powered past countryman Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets on Wednesday, winning the all-Italian men’s major quarterfinal.
Sinner needed just two hours to advance, saving all seven break points he faced and extending his streak to 31 consecutive service games held. He dropped only 38 games across his five matches so far and dominated with his serve, winning 42 of 46 first-serve points (91%).
The 23-year-old defending champion reached his fifth consecutive Grand Slam semifinal, keeping alive his opportunity to reach the final at all four majors this year. Sinner, who has now won 26 straight matches at hard-court majors, will face No. 25 seed Félix Auger-Aliassime on Friday for a place in the final.
(No. 25) Felix Auger-Aliassime def. (No. 8) Alex de Minaur 4-6, 7-6 (7), 7-5, 7-6 (4)
Félix Auger-Aliassime fought back to beat No. 8 seed Alex de Minaur on Wednesday, booking his second career Grand Slam semifinal—and first since the 2021 US Open.
The Canadian hit 22 aces and finished with 51 winners to de Minaur’s 29, overcoming a slow start after dropping the opening set. He saved a set point in the second-set tiebreak with a 120 mph ace, then won four of the next five points to even the match. From there, Auger-Aliassime maintained control in key moments, clinching the win in just under four hours.
The 25th seed will now take on defending champion and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in Friday’s semifinal.
(No. 7) Novak Djokovic def. (No. 4) Taylor Fritz 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4
Four-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic advanced to a record-extending 53rd Grand Slam semifinal—and 14th at Flushing Meadows—by defeating No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz in four sets on Wednesday night.
The 38-year-old Serbian jumped out quickly, breaking Fritz in the opening game and racing to a two-set lead. While Fritz steadied his serve and groundstrokes in the later sets, Djokovic’s defense and clutch serving proved decisive. He saved 11 of 13 break points, won 10 of 11 points when serve-and-volleying, and held off Fritz’s late push to close out the match in three hours and 12 minutes.
Djokovic now faces No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz on Friday in a blockbuster semifinal match.
(No. 2) Carlos Alcaraz def. (No. 20) Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2, 6-4
Carlos Alcaraz remained flawless in New York, beating No. 20 seed Jiri Lehecka in straight sets to reach his ninth career Grand Slam semifinal without dropping a set.
The 22-year-old Spaniard has been nearly unbreakable on serve, holding in 68 of his 69 service games during the tournament, including 34 straight. He has now won 35 of his last 36 matches dating back to May’s Rome Masters, collecting six titles and a Tour-leading 59 wins this season.
Alcaraz is the youngest man since Rafael Nadal and Boris Becker (10 each) to reach nine major semifinals before turning 23. This will be his first semifinal at a hard-court major since the 2023 US Open, and he will meet four-time champion Novak Djokovic on Friday in a highly anticipated match for a spot in Sunday’s final.
