Main Event: Brendan Allen def. Reinier de Ridder via TKO (corner stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 4
Brendan Allen scored the biggest win of his career Saturday night, stopping Reinier de Ridder in the fourth round of their middleweight main event at UFC Fight Night in Vancouver. Despite taking the fight on short notice, Allen (26-7) promised he would break de Ridder (21-3) — and he did exactly that. After wearing down the Dutch contender with relentless pressure and superior grappling, Allen forced de Ridder’s corner to throw in the towel between the fourth and fifth rounds.
De Ridder controlled the opening round with his ground game, securing a takedown and keeping Allen on the canvas while hunting for submissions. But from the second round onward, the momentum shifted entirely. Allen dominated the grappling exchanges, reversed positions with ease, and outworked de Ridder in every area. By the end of the fourth round, de Ridder was visibly exhausted, struggling to return to his corner before his team made the call to stop the fight. Allen finished with more than 11 minutes of control time and outlanded de Ridder 128 to 51 in total strikes.
The win snaps de Ridder’s four-fight UFC winning streak and marks Allen’s second straight win following a loss to Anthony Hernandez earlier in the year. de Ridder was originally set to face Hernandez before an injury forced him out, Allen stepped in on short notice and turned the opportunity into a statement win. With back-to-back wins over Marvin Vettori and now de Ridder, the UFC’s No. 9-ranked middleweight has solidified himself as a legitimate contender in the division and a name to watch in the title picture.
