2025 World Series Game 4: (AL No. 1) Toronto Blue Jays def. (NL No. 3) Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2
The Toronto Blue Jays evened the World Series at two games apiece on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4, powered by a four-run seventh inning. The win ensures the series will return to Toronto for at least a Game 6.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the third inning, giving him his seventh homer of the postseason and setting a new franchise record. From that point on, the Blue Jays never trailed.
Shohei Ohtani, coming off a historic performance in Game 3, took the mound for Los Angeles but struggled to replicate that magic. The Dodgers’ two-way star allowed four runs on six hits across six-plus innings with six strikeouts and one walk. After Guerrero’s home run, Ohtani settled in and retired 11 of 12 batters, but Toronto broke through again in the seventh. Daulton Varsho led off with a single and Ernie Clement followed with a double off the wall to chase Ohtani from the game. The Blue Jays added runs on Andrés Giménez’s RBI single and a Ty France groundout before Bo Bichette and Addison Barger delivered RBI singles off the Dodgers’ bullpen to extend the lead.
Ohtani was unable to make an impact at the plate, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk.
On the mound for Toronto, Shane Bieber delivered a composed and efficient performance in his World Series debut. The 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner allowed just one run on four hits across 5 1/3 innings, navigating trouble with timely pitches. Mason Fluharty relieved him and stranded two inherited runners to preserve the lead.
Addison Barger recorded two hits and an RBI, contributing to a balanced offensive night for a Blue Jays lineup that rebounded confidently from its 18 inning Game 3 loss.
With the win, Toronto hands the defending champions only their third loss of the postseason and regains home-field advantage. Game 5 will be played Wednesday at Dodger Stadium before the series shifts back to Rogers Centre for Game 6 on Friday.
