Kevin Durant Hits Game-Winner in Rockets’ Win Over Suns

Kevin Durant scored 26 points and hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining to lift the Houston Rockets to a 100–97 win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. With the game tied, Durant caught an inbounds pass with Royce O’Neale defending, took two dribbles and pulled up from deep to beat his former team. Devin Booker’s last-second three-point attempt rimmed out, sealing the win for Houston.

Durant finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds, despite hitting just two of his 12 attempts from beyond the arc, with the game winner being his second three of the night. Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr. each scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Tari Eason added 12 points and eight boards as the Rockets earned their fifth win in six games.

Phoenix had rallied late after trailing by seven with under five minutes to play, using a 10–0 run fueled by eight Booker points to take a 97–94 lead with about two and a half minutes remaining. Houston struggled offensively down the stretch, going nearly four and a half minutes without a field goal before Thompson converted a three-point play to tie the game inside the final two minutes, setting the stage for Durant’s heroics.

Booker led the Suns with 27 points, while O’Neale and Dillon Brooks each scored 15 in the loss, snapping Phoenix’s two-game winning streak. The Suns fell to 21–15 but have still won six of their last eight games to climb to seventh in the Western Conference. Houston improved to 22–11 and sits fifth in the West.
