2026 Super Bowl 60 Recap: Seahawks Dominate Patriots, Win Second Super Bowl in Franchise History

The Seattle Seahawks leaned on their dominant defense once again to overwhelm Drake Maye and the New England Patriots in a 29–13 win on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium to win Super Bowl LX. Twelve years after winning their first Lombardi Trophy in similar fashion, Seattle delivered another defensive masterpiece, finishing the postseason with an average margin of victory of more than 18 points, the highest by a Super Bowl champion since the 2002 Buccaneers.

Seattle’s defense dictated the game from start to finish, harassing Maye with constant pressure and never allowing New England to find any offensive rhythm. The Seahawks sacked the second year quarterback six times, forced three turnovers and limited the Patriots to just three trips past midfield. New England managed 331 total yards, most of which came in the fourth quarter, and was held scoreless until late in the game. Seattle led 9–0 at halftime on three Jason Myers field goals and maintained a multi-possession lead throughout the second half.

The game finally opened up in the fourth quarter, when Seattle scored all of its touchdowns. Sam Darnold connected with tight end A.J. Barner on a 16-yard score to make it 19–0, and the Seahawks never looked back. Uchenna Nwosu punctuated the defensive effort with a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown, while Julian Love added another pick to seal the game. Running back Kenneth Walker III, named Super Bowl MVP, powered the offense with 135 rushing yards and added 26 more through the air, consistently setting the tone in a game where Seattle did not need to be flashy offensively.

New England briefly showed signs of life when Maye found Mack Hollins for a 35-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 19–7, but any momentum was short-lived. Back-to-back interceptions on the Patriots’ next possessions erased any hope of a comeback. Darnold finished with a steady, turnover-free performance, completing 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown, while Walker’s production and the defense’s relentlessness controlled the flow of the game.

The win delivered Seattle its second Super Bowl championship and served as redemption for its painful loss to the Patriots 11 years earlier. The Seahawks capped a 14–3 regular season and a dominant playoff run by shutting down New England on the sport’s biggest stage. It was a decisive, emphatic and fitting performance for a team whose identity was built on defense when it mattered most.
