Buffalo Bills acquire WR DJ Moore in trade with the Chicago Bears

The Buffalo Bills moved to bolster their passing attack by acquiring wide receiver DJ Moore in a trade with the Chicago Bears, giving quarterback Josh Allen a proven new target. Buffalo will send a 2026 second-round draft pick to Chicago in exchange for Moore and a 2026 fifth-round selection. The deal addresses one of the Bills’ most pressing offseason needs after an inconsistent 2025 season at wide receiver.

Moore, who turns 29 in April, brings an established resume despite a down year statistically. Over three seasons in Chicago, he totaled 244 receptions for 3,012 yards and 20 touchdowns, though his 50 catches and 682 yards in 2025 marked career lows. Still, his durability remained a strength, as he played all 17 games and delivered several highlight-reel moments, including a 46-yard walk-off touchdown in overtime against Green Bay late in the season.

The move reunites Moore with Bills head coach Joe Brady, under whom Moore had some of the most productive seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers. During Brady’s tenure as Carolina’s offensive coordinator in 2020 and most of 2021, Moore averaged a career-high 18.1 yards per catch and surpassed 1,100 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons. Buffalo is banking on that familiarity to help Moore quickly integrate into the offense.

For the Bills, the acquisition reflects a clear win-now approach heading into the 2026 season. Since trading away Stefon Diggs prior to 2025, Buffalo has cycled through multiple options at receiver without finding a consistent solution. Moore offers a reliable, versatile presence who fits Allen’s competitive timeline and could immediately stabilize the passing game. For Chicago, the trade frees space in a crowded receiver room and adds valuable draft capital as the Bears continue reshaping their roster around a young offensive core.
