LeBron James passes Robert Parish to become the NBA all time games played leader

No player in NBA history has appeared in more games than LeBron James, who added another milestone to his unparalleled resume Saturday night simply by taking the floor. James logged the 1,612th regular-season game of his career as the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Orlando Magic 105–104, breaking a long-standing tie with Robert Parish of the Boston Celtics for the most games played in league history.

The record-setting appearance came in a dramatic finish, with the Lakers securing their ninth straight win on a game-winning three-pointer by Luka Kennard. James finished with 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting, along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, contributing across the board in another close win.

While James already held the all-time games played mark when postseason appearances are included—his 292 playoff games bring his career total to 1,904—the regular-season milestone further underscores his durability.

The games-played record stands as a testament to James’ longevity and consistency. Entering the league in 2003 at just 18 years old, James has now played 23 seasons while continuing to perform at an All-Star level into his 40s, never missing more than half a season due to injury.

Beyond games played, James already sits atop several all-time leaderboards, including points, field goals made, All-Star selections, All-NBA honors, seasons played, and playoff games, further cementing his legacy as one of the most durable and accomplished players in NBA history.
