2026 Miami Open: Jannik Sinner beats Jiri Lehecka to win Miami Open and complete Sunshine Double, first since Roger Federer

(No. 2) Jannik Sinner def. (No. 21) Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4

Jannik Sinner capped a dominant tournament with a straight-sets win over Jiri Lehecka to claim the Miami Open title on Sunday, completing the Sunshine Double a day after Aryna Sabalenka achieved the same feat by defeating Coco Gauff. With the win, Sinner added his second ATP Masters 1000 title of the season and further cemented his place atop the men’s game.

By winning both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season, Sinner became the first man to accomplish the double since Roger Federer in 2017 and the first ever to do so without dropping a set at either event. He is the eighth man in history to sweep the two tournaments, and together with Sabalenka, formed the first pair to complete the Sunshine Double in the same year since Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka in 2016.

The final was disrupted by two rain delays of nearly 90 minutes each, but once play settled, Sinner asserted control. He broke Lehecka early, despite the Czech entering the final without having been broken all tournament, and consistently applied pressure by generating 11 break points overall. Lehecka briefly threatened with a 0–40 look in the opening set, but Sinner erased the danger with a run of first serves and never gave up momentum. He did not lose a single point behind his first serve in the opening set and later converted a key break at 4–4 in the second after Lehecka faltered at net.

Over the one-hour, 33-minute match, Sinner’s depth and precision proved decisive. He dictated forehand exchanges, forced Lehecka out of position, and finished with 10 aces, bringing his tournament total to 70. The second seed also won his first 23 points on serve and extended his ATP Masters 1000 streak to 34 consecutive sets won, dating back to last year’s Paris Masters.

The win marked Sinner’s second Miami Open title in three years and extended his winning streak in Miami to 12 matches. Improving to 19–2 on the season, the Italian continues to set the standard in men’s tennis, adding another milestone to a rapidly growing list of achievements.
