Colorado Defeats Baylor in Wild Overtime Game (Sports)

September 21, 2024

Colorado made their return to the Big 12 Conference after leaving the conference in 2011 to join the Pac-12. They played their return game against Baylor, and Colorado won the game in overtime 38 to 31. Baylor was up for most of the game, until the last seconds of the game with Colorado converting on a Hail Mary to send the game to overtime.

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders connected with receiver LaJohntay Wester on a 43-yard touchdown as the game clock expired, and the game was officially sent to overtime after Colorado converted the game tying field goal. The overtime play that won Colorado the game was dual threat player Travis Hunter forcing Baylor to fumble the ball out of the end zone on the 2-yard line.

This game was one of the more wild games so far this college football season. Baylor had chances to win, but their missed 46-yard field goal with 2:19 left in the game gave Colorado just enough time to engineer a game-winning drive. The play right before the winning play was also a Hail Mary attempt that was dropped by receiver Will Sheppard.
