October 8, 2024

In 2012, Omega launched a Speedmaster called the ‘First Omega in Space’ to honor the first Omega Speedmaster to go to space, worn by astronaut Wally Schirra during NASA’s Sigma 7 mission on October 3, 1962, which orbited the Earth six times. That specific model ended up being discontinued by Omega four years ago, but Omega is bring back the ‘First Omega in Space’ model with an all-new design this year.

The watch features a 39.7mm case with straight lugs like the old model. The watch references older vintage versions of the Speedmaster with Omega’s vintage logo and wordmark on the dial along with a dark grey-blue dial with faux patina on the hands and hour markers.

The watch houses the manual winding METAS-certified Caliber 3861 that is found in the current-generation Speedmaster.

The watch will retail starting at $7,500 for versions with a leather strap or $7,900 for versions on a bracelet.
