Jannik Sinner Leads Italy to Defend Davis Cup Title (Sports)

Earlier today in Málaga, Spain, Italy defeated the Netherlands 2-0 to win the Davis Cup final. Matteo Berrettini secured Italy’s first point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Botic van de Zandschulp in the opening singles match. Jannik Sinner clinched the second point by defeating Tallon Griekspoor 7-6 (2), 6-2, earning Italy their second consecutive Davis Cup title.
Sinner went 4-0 in Davis Cup matches this year, including a doubles victory with Berrettini against Argentina in the quarterfinals. Sinner had a ton of success in 2024, finishing with a 73-8 record and winning eight singles titles, including his first two Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open in January and the U.S. Open in September.
