New York Yankees star Aaron Judge tied Hall of Fame outfielder Joe DiMaggio for fourth place on the franchise’s all-time home run list with his 361st career homer during Thursday night’s 9-3 win over the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium.
Judge homered twice in the game. In the first inning, he went deep to center off Tyler Holton (5-5). Two innings later, he matched DiMaggio by crushing a no-doubt 434-foot shot to left-center field off reliever Sawyer Gipson-Long, clocked at 114.9 mph. Judge finished 3-for-4, also adding a single in the sixth inning. The two-time AL MVP now has 46 home runs this season, including six multi-homer games.
The milestone comes just two nights after Judge passed Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra (358) for fifth place on the Yankees’ career list. He now sits alongside DiMaggio, trailing only Babe Ruth (659), Mickey Mantle (536), and Lou Gehrig (493).
DiMaggio, one of the Yankees’ most iconic players, won nine World Series championships, earned 13 All-Star selections in 13 seasons, and collected three MVP awards before retiring at age 36 in 1951.
Judge is putting together another MVP-caliber campaign in 2025. He leads MLB in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS, while ranking fourth in home runs. His primary competition for the award may come from Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, but Judge’s historic pace continues to strengthen his case.
