Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph RD#5 “150th Anniversary”

Audemars Piguet celebrates its 150th anniversary this year with a landmark release from its Research and Development department: the Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph RD#5.

Developed over five years, the RD#5 debuts the all-new self-winding Calibre 8100 — a fully reimagined, rebuilt, and patented movement that introduces a groundbreaking chronograph architecture. Every component has been meticulously designed to enhance the tactile precision and responsiveness of the chronograph pushers. Compact yet technically advanced, the Calibre 8100 measures 31.4mm in diameter and just 4mm thick.

For the first time in the Royal Oak collection, a flyback chronograph has been paired with a flying tourbillon. The RD#5 also incorporates a rare instant-jump minute counter and an hour counter, reflecting Audemars Piguet’s continued mastery of micro-mechanics and horological innovation.

Crafted from titanium and precious Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG), the RD#5 achieves an exceptional balance of lightness, durability, and brilliance. The 39mm case preserves the iconic proportions of the Royal Oak “Jumbo,” with a remarkably slim 8.1mm profile. The dial, rendered in the classic “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” hue, features a refined script logo used across Audemars Piguet’s 150th-anniversary editions. Two sunken chronograph counters with a snailed finish enhance legibility, while white gold hour and minute hands contrast elegantly with titanium chronograph hands.

Palladium-based Bulk Metallic Glass is used for the bezel, pusher elements, crown function selector, and bracelet link studs — details that elevate both design and resilience.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph RD#5 is limited to just 150 pieces and is priced at CHF 260,000 (excluding VAT).
