Carlos Alcaraz Claims Year End World No. 1 Ranking

Carlos Alcaraz has finished the 2025 season as the ATP Year End World No. 1, capping off a season long battle with Jannik Sinner for the top spot. It marks the second time in his career and the first since 2022 that the Spaniard ends the year at No. 1. Alcaraz originally became the youngest year end No. 1 in ATP history when he achieved the feat as a 19 year old in 2022.

With this accomplishment, Alcaraz becomes one of just 11 players to earn multiple ATP Year End No. 1 honors. The 22 year old secured the ranking following a career best season in which he won eight titles, the most on tour.

Alcaraz held the No. 1 position in the ATP Rankings for 46 weeks, more than 15 other members of the elite ATP No. 1 Club. He reclaimed the top spot from Sinner after winning the US Open and, aside from one week, maintained it through the end of the season. He has been consistent all season, highlighted by a stretch of nine consecutive finals.

In 2025, Alcaraz won two majors (Roland Garros and the US Open), three ATP Masters 1000 titles (Monte Carlo, Rome and Cincinnati), and three ATP 500 crowns (Rotterdam, Queen’s Club and Tokyo). Alcaraz and Sinner were the only players to hold the World No. 1 ranking throughout the entire year, and the battle for year end No. 1 remained alive heading into the Nitto ATP Finals. Alcaraz clinched the year end crown by sweeping his three round robin matches in Turin.

Alcaraz is now the second active player, alongside Novak Djokovic who won eight titles in a season, to earn multiple year end No. 1 finishes. His eight titles led the ATP Tour and marked the most successful season of his young career.
