Carlos Alcaraz Upset at US Open in Straight Sets

Carlos Alcaraz is out of the US Open in the second round losing to Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets (6-1, 7-5, 6-4). Alcaraz has been having a pretty good year winning the last two grand slams and making an Olympic final, and going into this US Open he was one of the favorites to win the title again.

Alcaraz was looking to hit shots past Zandschulp, but every ball pretty much came back, and Alcaraz didn’t have any answers. The tides never turned and continued for the entirety of the match. Falling behind early in second and third sets only made things tougher for Alcaraz, with no opportunities to make the come back.

Zandschulp was considering retirement early this year, and this win has to be the biggest of his career. He pretty much played a perfect game being able to defend, and stay composed throughout the whole match.
