Micah Parsons Traded to Packers, Becomes Highest-Paid Non-Quarterback in NFL History

The Dallas Cowboys traded star edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday in a blockbuster deal. In return, Dallas received three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark along with Green Bay’s first-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027.

Parsons, a two-time All-Pro and three-time Defensive Player of the Year finalist in his first four NFL seasons, agreed to a four-year, $188 million extension with the Packers that includes $136 million guaranteed. The deal makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, with an average annual salary of $47 million.

The trade marks the end of an era in Dallas, where Parsons anchored the defense since being drafted No. 12 overall in 2021. In four seasons, he racked up 52.5 sacks, 256 tackles, 9 forced fumbles, 9 passes defensed, and 4 fumble recoveries. He became just the third player in NFL history to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons, joining Aaron Donald and Patrick Peterson, while also standing alongside Reggie White as the only players to record at least 12 sacks in each of their first four years.

At just 26 years old, Parsons enters his fifth NFL season with Green Bay as the centerpiece of its defense. His return to Dallas will been in Week 4 when the Packers face the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football at AT&T Stadium.
