Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez made history on Saturday, becoming the 19th player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a single game. Despite his record performance, the Diamondbacks lost to the Atlanta Braves in a 10-inning, 7-8 loss.
Suárez hit three of his home runs off Braves starter Grant Holmes — a solo shot in the second inning, a two-run blast in the fourth, and another solo home run in the sixth. Holmes was pulled from the game right after Suárez’s third home run. Suárez came up clutch again in the ninth, leading off with a game-tying solo home run off closer Raisel Iglesias for his fourth home run of the night.
It was the first four-home-run game in MLB since 2017, when J.D. Martinez accomplished the feat also as a member of the Diamondbacks.
Suárez had previously recorded two three-homer games: one on July 30, 2024, with Arizona, and another on September 5, 2020, while playing for the Cincinnati Reds. He also has 15 career two-homer games.
With the historic performance, Suárez now leads the MLB with 10 home runs this season.
