Dodgers Re Sign World Series Hero Miguel Rojas on One Year, 5.5 Million Dollar Deal

The Dodgers and veteran infielder Miguel Rojas agreed to reunite on a one year, $5.5 million dollar deal for the 2026 season. Rojas, 36, has said the 2026 campaign will be his final year in the major leagues. The longtime infielder was open about his desire to finish his career in Los Angeles, the organization with which he made his MLB debut in 2014. After his playing career ends, Rojas is expected to transition into a player development position and assist the Dodgers front office in 2027.

Rojas returns to Los Angeles fresh off one of the most memorable moments in franchise history. After spending most of the 2025 postseason on the bench, he was thrust into the starting lineup at second base for Games 6 and 7 of the World Series after more than three weeks without a start.

He made an immediate impact in Game 6, scooping a difficult throw to complete a game ending double play that kept the Dodgers season alive. He came through again the next night. With the Dodgers down to their final two outs in Game 7, Rojas delivered a stunning solo home run off Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman to tie the game in the ninth inning of what became a 5-4 win in 11 innings. In the bottom of the ninth, he followed his heroics with a tough force out at home, setting the stage for Will Smith’s championship clinching home run in extra innings.

Rojas, acquired from the Marlins before the 2023 season, has provided the Dodgers with steady, league average offensive production and reliable infield defense throughout his second stint in Los Angeles. He also enjoyed a resurgent season at the plate in 2025, slashing .262/.318/.397 with 18 doubles and 27 RBIs in 114 games while playing quality defense at second base, third base and shortstop. His versatility earned him a finalist spot for the National League Utility Gold Glove, which was won by Miami’s Javier Sanoja.

Rojas greatest value to the Dodgers may be in the clubhouse. He emerged as a vocal leader on a star filled roster and became a key mentor to Mookie Betts, who credited Rojas for helping him transition into a Gold Glove caliber shortstop.

Rojas becomes the first member of the Dodgers 2025 World Series roster to be brought back for next season. The team previously exercised options on Max Muncy and reliever Alex Vesia. Utility man Kike Hernandez, a free agent, and reliever Evan Phillips, who was non tendered, remain candidates to return, though both are rehabbing injuries and may be more likely to re sign once the 60 day injured list opens at the start of Spring Training.
