Game 1 of the 2024 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees lived up to all the hype with a close back and forth game that needed an extra inning. Freddie Freeman was the hero of the game hitting a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning to win game 1. The Yankees took the lead 3 to 2 in the top of the 10th, but Freeman was able to come through with a 423-foot home run to give the Dodgers a 6 to 3 win and 1 to 0 lead in the World Series.
Freeman has been playing injured throughout the postseason after spraining his ankle during the last week of the regular season. Freeman didn’t have a single extra-base hit during the NLDS or NLCS and sat out a few games to rest his ankle, and then hit a triple and a grand slam in game 1 of the World Series.
