No. 7 Georgia defeated rival Georgia Tech in a wild 44-42, 8-overtime game earlier tonight at Sanford Stadium, marking the longest game in SEC history. Georgia Tech held a 17-0 lead at halftime, but Georgia led a fourth-quarter comeback to force overtime and ultimately secure the win, keeping their record at two losses heading into the SEC Championship Game.

The turning point in the game came when Georgia defensive back Dan Jackson forced a fumble from Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King, which was recovered at the 32-yard line with two minutes remaining. A few plays later, a defensive pass interference call on Georgia Tech gave Georgia the ball in the red zone. Four plays later, Georgia tied the game at 27-27 with one minute remaining in the fourth quarter. The game-winning play for Georgia came when running back Nate Frazier rushed into the end zone for the two-point conversion in the eighth overtime.

With the win, Georgia improves to 10-2 on the season, most likely clinching a spot in the College Football Playoff, and will face the winner of the Texas-Texas A&M game in the SEC Championship.
