“I’m Out Here Playing Chess!”

Kobe Bryant is the GOAT, and one of my favorite quotes of his is, “These young guys are playing checkers. I’m out here playing chess.” The quote reminds me to envision the big picture, anticipate future possibilities, continually innovate, think outside the box, and always do things at the highest level. Chess is a more complex game of strategy and tactics compared to checkers. Denzel Washington had a similar quote in the 2001 movie “Training Day“ too!
