Jack Eichel signs eight-year, $108 million extension with Golden Knights

Jack Eichel has signed an eight-year, $108 million contract extension with the Vegas Golden Knights, the team announced Wednesday. The deal carries an average annual value of $13.5 million and will begin with the 2026–27 season.

The 28-year-old center is coming off a career-best season, leading the Golden Knights and finishing eighth in the NHL with 94 points (28 goals, 66 assists) in 77 games. Eichel is entering the final year of his previous eight-year, $80 million contract ($10 million AAV) originally signed with the Buffalo Sabres in 2017. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Since joining Vegas during the 2021–22 campaign, Eichel has become the face of the franchise. He leads the team in goals (100), assists (153), and points (253) across 241 regular-season games, while also ranking second in plus-minus (+65) and takeaways (160). His 94-point effort last season set a new single-season franchise record for the Golden Knights.

Eichel’s playoff impact has been just as significant. He led all skaters in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with 26 points (six goals, 20 assists) in 22 games, helping Vegas win its first Stanley Cup. Last season, he added 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 11 postseason games.

Vegas, which finished atop the Pacific Division last season before falling to the Edmonton Oilers in the second round, remains among the favorites to contend for the Stanley Cup again, especially after adding winger Mitch Marner this offseason.
