The current world No. 1 Jannik Sinner beat the American, Frances Tiafoe 7-6(4), 6-2 earlier today to win the Cincinnati Open title. Leading into this final match, Jannik Sinner played back to back three-setters against Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev, and showed his resilience in the close matches.
Frances Tiafoe has been having a tough season, but he’s been on a positive track playing better during this back half of the season. This was his first career Masters 1000 final, and he looks to bring the momentum to New York for the US Open that starts on the 26th. He has been a strong performer in this grand slam in recent years making the semifinals in 2022 and the quarterfinals last year in 2023.
