Jessica Pegula Rallies to Win in 3 Sets and Reach US Open Final

Jessica Pegula (No. 6) comes back from a set and a break down to beat Karolina Muchova (unseeded due to 10 month injury leave) in the semifinal matchup 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Pegula was not off to a good start dropping the first set 1-6, and being down 0-3 in the second set. Pegula was able to turn things around quick and completely flipped her play to win the second and third sets.

Pegula will play her first Grand Slam final against two-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka (No. 2) for the US Open title on Saturday. Sabalenka currently leads their head to head matchups 5 to 2, and won their most recent meeting at the Cincinnati final last month. Sabalenka won the Australian Open earlier this year and is currently on an 11-match win streak, having dominated the hard courts this season. Pegula will be playing in her first Grand Slam final and is playing her best tennis of the season, having won 15 of her last 16 matches, with her only loss coming against Sabalenka in Cincinnati.
