Kids of Immigrants is a Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand that blends diverse cultures and experiences through apparel and storytelling. Their latest sneaker collaboration is their biggest project with Nike to date, featuring two colorways of the Nike Air Max Sunder. The brand put its unique spin on the Sunder, an early 2000s-era runner that Nike brought back from its archives this year.
Kids of Immigrants made significant changes to the original Nike Air Max Sunder, replacing the reflective side panels and high mudguard with a wavy grid pattern that symbolizes global connection and reflects the Kids of Immigrants story.
The sneakers also come packaged in a throwback brown and orange shoebox, reminiscent of the early 2000s era Nike boxes. The shoes also come with a prepaid phone card, a common tool used by immigrants to communicate with family back in the homeland. If you’re a kid of an immigrant, you’ll recognize the card.
The purple “Sun Down” colorway was exclusively sold through Kids of Immigrants, while the orange “Sun Up” colorway had a broader release on SNKRS and other Tier 0 retailers. Both colorways will retail at $190.
