Las Vegas Raiders Hire Pete Carroll as New Head Coach

The Las Vegas Raiders have hired Pete Carroll as the franchise’s new head coach. Carroll has agreed to a three-year deal with a fourth-year team option, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This marks Carroll’s return to the NFL after being fired by the Seattle Seahawks in 2023.

Carroll is one of the most accomplished football coaches in both college and professional football. He transformed USC’s football program into a national powerhouse during his tenure from 2001 to 2009, winning two national championships (2003 and 2004) and seven consecutive Pac-10 championships.

In 2010, Carroll returned to the NFL as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, where he continued his coaching success. He turned the Seahawks into consistent title contenders, making the playoffs in 10 of his first 13 seasons, and led the franchise to its first-ever Super Bowl victory in 2014.

Carroll has established himself as one of the NFL’s most respected and longest-tenured head coaches. He will now become the Raiders’ fifth head coach since the team relocated to Las Vegas from Oakland in 2020. The Raiders, in search of stability at the head coaching position, hope Carroll can provide the leadership and consistency the franchise needs.
