The Los Angeles Lakers traded D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis, and three second-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton on Sunday. The Nets will now hold the Lakers’ second-round picks in 2027, 2030, and 2031.
Russell, who is averaging 12.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 26.3 minutes per game this season, returns to the Nets, where he played for two seasons and earned his single All-Star selection.
The Lakers acquire a versatile 3-and-D player in Finney-Smith. He is averaging 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season while shooting a career-high 43.5% from beyond the arc. Known as a high-level wing defender, Finney-Smith is expected to strengthen the Lakers’ perimeter defense and contribute to their offensive spacing.
The trade strengthens the Lakers’ wing depth and defense, while the Nets acquire a returning All-Star and additional draft capital.
