Luka and LeBron Lead Lakers Past Clippers 135–118 for Fifth Straight Win, Clinch NBA Cup Group

The Los Angeles Lakers won their fifth straight game on Tuesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 135–118 in an NBA Cup matchup. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 43 points, 13 assists, and 9 rebounds. LeBron James added 25 points, and Austin Reaves had 31 points and 9 rebounds as Los Angeles continued its hot stretch, winning 11 of its last 13.

The 40 year old James looked increasingly sharp in just his third game of a record 23rd NBA season, scoring 16 points in the second half as the Lakers pulled away.

Doncic opened the night with his highest scoring quarter of the season, knocking down his first five three pointers—after going just 5 for 22 from deep over his previous two games—and putting up 20 points in the first eight minutes. He matched his season high with 32 points in the first half and finished with the 51st 40 point game of his career. He came up just shy of his 10th career 40 point triple double, but the Lakers secured their group with their third consecutive NBA Cup win.
