The 2024 NBA season is officially underway!
Boston Celtics def. New York Knicks (Final Score: 132-109)
The defending NBA champion Boston Celtics raised their 18th championship banner ahead of their season-opening 132 to 109 win over the New York Knicks. The Celtics tied the NBA record for 3-pointers made in a single game shooting 29-of-61 from 3-point distance. Al Horford tied the record with the Celtics’ 29th three-pointer, but the team was unable to break it, missing their final 13 attempts despite having about nine minutes left in the game. Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns made their Knicks’ team debut, but they both had quiet performances, and will look to bounce back against the Indiana Pacers on Friday, Oct. 25 at Madison Square Garden.
Los Angeles Lakers def. Minnesota Timberwolves (Final Score: 110-103)
The Los Angeles Lakers won their first opening night game since 2016, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103. Story of the game was LeBron and Bronny James making NBA history becoming the first father-son duo to take the court together. The performance of the game was Anthony Davis with 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Both teams struggled with shooting, but the Lakers played more consistent defense and limited their turnovers.
