NBA Power Rankings: Last Week of the Season

The 2024-25 NBA regular season ends on Sunday, and many of the teams are still fighting for playoff seeding.

  1. Oklahoma City Thunder
    • 2024-25 record: 66-14
    • Next games: @ UTAH (April 11), @ NO (April 13)
    • The Thunder will go into the playoffs with championship expectations. Anything less than a Conference Finals appearance would disappoint after a dominant regular season.
  2. Cleveland Cavaliers
    • 2024-25 record: 63-16
    • Next Games: @ IND (April 10), @ NYK (April 11), vs. IND (April 13)
    • The Cavs have clinched the No. 1 seed in the east, and will look to make a deep playoff run.
  3. Boston Celtics
    • 2024-25 record: 59-21
    • Next games: vs. CHA (April 11), vs. CHA (April 13)
    • The Celtics have won 12 of their last 15 games, playing their best basketball going into the playoffs to defend their title.
  4. Los Angeles Lakers
    • 2024-25 record: 49-31
    • Next games: vs. HOU (April 11), @ POR (April 13)
    • Luka Doncic puts up 45 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in his first game back in Dallas. The Laker need to win at least 1 of their remaining two games of the regular season to clinch the No. 3 spot in the west.
  5. Houston Rockets
    • 2024-25 record: 52-28
    • Next games: @ LAL (April 11), vs. DEN (April 13)
    • The Rockets finished at No. 11 last season and are at No. 2 this season. Their offense still has consistency issues, but their elite defense makes up for it.
  6. New York Knicks
    • 2024-25 record: 50-29
    • Next games: @ DET (April 10), vs. CLE (April 11), @ BKN (April 13)
    • Jalen Brunson has returned from his ankle injury, and averaged 21 points and 8 assists in his first two games back. He gets back on the court in time for the playoffs.
  7. Denver Nuggets
    • 2024-25 record: 48-32
    • Next games: vs. MEM (April 11), @ HOU (April 13)
    • The Nuggets front office parted ways with head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth instead of waiting until the end of the season. The team has struggled since the all-star break going 11-13 since All-Star weekend.
  8. Indiana Pacers
    • 2024-25 record: 48-31
    • Next games: vs. CLE (April 10), vs. ORL (April 11), @ CLE (April 13)
    • Indiana is closing in on locking up the No. 4 seed in the East for homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs with a three game lead over the Bucks.
  9. LA Clippers
    • 2024-25 record: 48-32
    • Next games: @ SAC (April 11), @ GS (April 13)
    • The Clippers are 13-2 over their last 15 games and have moved up to No. 5 in the west out of the play-in tournament.
  10. Memphis Grizzlies
    • 2024-25 record: 47-32
    • Next games: vs. MIN (April 10), @ DEN (April 11), vs. DAL (April 13)
    • The Grizzlies have gone 12-16 since the trade deadline in early February, but have won their last 3 games.
  11. Golden State Warriors
    • 2024-25 record: 47-33
    • Next games: @ POR (April 11), vs. LAC (April 13)
    • The Warriors will most likely end up in the play-in tournament with their loss against the Spurs.
  12. Minnesota Timberwolves
    • 2024-25 record: 46-33
    • Next games: @ MEM (April 10), vs. BKN (April 11), vs. UTAH (April 13)
    • The Timberwolves have gone 14-4 since March and will be a threat in the playoffs with a high powered offense.
  13. Milwaukee Bucks
    • 2024-25 record: 45-34
    • Next games: vs. NO (April 10), @ DET (April 11), vs. DET (April 13)
    • The Bucks have won 5 straight, and will most likely end up as the No. 5 seed in the east. Their have been no updates with Damian Lillard’s injury and seems unlikely that he will return to the court for the playoffs.
  14. Detroit Pistons
    • 2024-25 record: 43-36
    • Next games: vs. NYK (April 10), vs. MIL (April 11), @ MIL (April 13)
    • The Pistons have gone from having the worst record in the NBA last season to a top-6 seed this season.
  15. Orlando Magic
    • 2024-25 record: 40-40
    • Next games: @ IND (April 11), @ ATL (April 13)
    • The Magic have clinched the top seed in the play-in and will host the game.
  16. Sacramento Kings
    • 2024-25 record: 39-41
    • Next games: vs. LAC (April 11), vs. PHX (April 13)
    • The Kings lock in a play-in spot with the Suns’ loss on Tuesday, but Sacramento is still playing for the right to host the 9-10 play-in game.
  17. Dallas Mavericks
    • 2024-25 record: 38-42
    • Next games: vs. TOR (April 11), @ MEM (April 13)
    • The Mavs are playing for the right to host the 9-10 play-in game.
  18. Atlanta Hawks
    • 2024-25 record: 37-42
    • Next games: @ BKN (April 10), @ PHI (April 11), vs. ORL (April 13)
    • The Hawks are in the play-in, but lose out on the No. 7 seed, and can still drop down and end up in 9th or 10th in the east.
  19. Chicago Bulls
    • 2024-25 record: 37-43
    • Next games: vs. WAS (April 11), @ PHI (April 13)
    • The Bulls have won 10 of their last 15 games and are chasing the Hawks to get into the first 7-8 play-in game.
  20. Miami Heat
    • 2024-25 record: 36-44
    • Next games: @ NO (April 11), vs. WAS (April 13)
    • The Heat will be in the play-in tournament, but the franchise is faced with questions about the future after dealing with the Jimmy Butler drama this season.
  21. Phoenix Suns
    • 2024-25 record: 35-45
    • Next Games: vs. SA (April 11), @ SAC (April 13)
    • The Suns fell out of the play-in tournament and have a disappointing end to their season. Kevin Durant might have played his last game for the franchise, and questions about Devin Booker’s future with the Suns have been brought up.
  22. Portland Trail Blazers
    • 2024-25 record: 35-45
    • Next games: vs. GS (April 11), vs. LAL (April 13)
    • The Blazer’s young core of players is looking very promising, and could compete for a playoff spot next season.
  23. San Antonio Spurs
    • 2024-25 record: 33-47
    • Next games: @ PHX (April 11), vs. TOR (April 13)
    • Stephon Castle is one of the top Rookie of the Year candidates this season.
  24. Toronto Raptors
    • 2024-25 record: 30-50
    • Next games: @ DAL (April 11), @ SA (April 13)
    • The Raptors will head into next season with the core of Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram, Immanuel Quickley, and RJ Barrett
  25. Brooklyn Nets
    • 2024-25 record: 26-53
    • Next games: vs. ATL (April 10), @ MIN (April 11), vs. NYK (April 13)
    • The Nets have landed in the bottom five this season, and will look to add more offensive talent to their roster during the off-season.
  26. Philadelphia 76ers
    • 2024-25 record: 24-56
    • Next games: vs. ATL (April 11), vs. CHI (April 13)
    • Philly is focused on preserving their top-six protected draft pick, and a healthy Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George next season.
  27. New Orleans Pelicans
    • 2024-25 record: 21-58
    • Next games: @ MIL (April 10), vs. MIA (April 11), vs. OKC (April 13)
    • The Pelicans have shut down CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson for the season, and won’t land in the bottom 3 teams for the lottery.
  28. Charlotte Hornets
    • 2024-25 record: 19-61
    • Next games: @ BOS (April 11), @ BOS (April 13)
    • The Hornets currently have the second-worst record in the NBA and would want to stay bottom three to improve their lottery odds.
  29. Washington Wizards
    • 2024-25 record: 17-63
    • Next games: @ CHI (April 11), @ MIA (April 13)
    • The Wizards currently have the worst record in the NBA and would want to stay bottom three to improve their lottery odds.
  30. Utah Jazz
    • 2024-25 record: 17-63
    • Next games: vs. OKC (April 11), @ MIN (April 13)
    • The Jazz currently have the worst record in the NBA.
