NFL 2024 Season Preview (Sports)
September 4, 2024
The 2024 NFL season officially kicks off tomorrow night with the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens. There are tons of teams and players to keep an eye out for throughout the season, and I’ll cover some teams going into the season.
- Kansas City Chiefs
- The Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champs, and they have their eyes on being the first NFL dynasty to achieve a three-peat. Their core offense returns to their team, and with a revamped wide receiver room over the offseason (Rookie: Xavier Worthy, and Veteran: Marquise “Hollywood” Brown), the team has a strong chance at maintaining their successful offense.
- New York Jets
- Aaron Rodgers first season with the Jets only lasted four plays before tearing his Achilles, he’s back healthy and ready to start the season, and is looking to bring the Jets back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010. RB Breece Hall and WR Garrett Wilson are both heading into their third NFL season, and will be key players on the offensive end for the team.
- Houston Texans
- The Texans surpassed all their expectations with rookie QB C.J. Stroud going 10-7 for the season and winning a playoff game. They now have high expectations to maintain and build on to their success going into the 2024 season. WR Stefon Diggs, RB Joe Mixon and LT Laremy Tunsil are all offensive Pro Bowlers that will need to stay healthy if the Texans want to make the playoffs.
- San Francisco 49ers
- The defending NFC champions have most of their roster returning for this season. The most of the offensive starters will remain the same, and they hope to continue their dominance on the offensive end and make it back to the Super Bowl. The 49ers have a strong depth chart and their key for success this season is health especially towards the end of the season and the playoffs.
- Chicago Bears
- Rookie QB Caleb Williams is in a really good situation for being drafted No. 1 overall. The bears defense looks to improve after playing well during the second half of the 2023 season, and the franchise has surrounded the rookie QB with a strong group of skill-position players. It might take a couple years for this team to be in a position fighting for a playoff spot, but they do have a chance at making the playoffs this season.
