In 2023, Rolex released a special edition of the Daytona to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The watch features a white gold case and bracelet, with a black ceramic tachymeter bezel marked with a red “100” to highlight the race’s centennial. Powered by Rolex’s caliber 4132 movement, the watch is designed as a chronograph capable of measuring up to 24 hours, making it perfectly suited for the endurance of the 24-hour race. The dial draws inspiration from the iconic “Paul Newman” 6263 Daytona, featuring a black dial with contrasting white sub-dials. This special edition also includes an open caseback, allowing visibility of the 4132 movement inside.
The Le Mans Daytona retailed for $51,400 and was nearly impossible for casual Rolex enthusiasts to acquire. As a special edition, it was intended to be a limited release, and Rolex officially discontinued the model in 2024. On the secondary market, prices for the Le Mans Daytona have surged, with examples now fetching between $200,000 and $250,000.
