Rolex unveiled its latest 2025 models at Watches and Wonders in Geneva, the largest trade show in the luxury watch industry. While most releases featured subtle refinements, such as new colors, materials, and updates to existing models, the standout release of the event was the Rolex Land-Dweller. This marks the brand’s first entirely new sports collection in over a decade, following the launch of the Sky-Dweller in 2012. For a company known for its conservative approach to innovation, the Land-Dweller represents Rolex’s boldest new design in years.
The Land-Dweller is powered by Rolex’s new ultra-thin Caliber 7135, a major advancement in the brand’s mechanical innovation. It is Rolex’s first high-frequency movement, making the Land-Dweller the most accurate mechanical Rolex ever produced. The watch also introduces the Dynapulse escapement, a mechanism designed to minimize or eliminate friction by delivering energy directly to the movement, enhancing both precision and durability. (Think of it as rolling a wheel across a floor instead of pushing a box.)

The Land-Dweller draws inspiration from Rolex’s Oysterquartz era of the 1970s, which introduced an angular case and integrated bracelet. This design first appeared on a mechanical Datejust (ref. 1530) in 1975 and was later refined for the Oysterquartz Datejust (ref. 17000) and Oysterquartz Day-Date (ref. 19018) in 1977. The 2025 Land-Dweller revives this vintage aesthetic with a redesigned case, flat integrated Jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel, and a newly designed honeycomb dial. The five-link flat Jubilee bracelet has been re-engineered and now features a concealed crown-shaped pull clasp, last seen on Datejust Jubilee models in 2018. The Land-Dweller marks Rolex’s return to the integrated sports watch category.
The Land-Dweller is the most accurate mechanical Rolex ever produced, but the Oysterquartz remains the most accurate Rolex overall. Both models showcase Rolex’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and precision.
The Rolex Land-Dweller launches as a full collection, available in three material options: Oystersteel and white gold, Everose gold, and platinum. Each material is offered in both 36mm and 40mm sizes, with additional configurations featuring gem-set dials and bezels. The Land-Dweller represents Rolex blending design elements from their archives with modern innovation, reintroducing a vintage aesthetic with modern mechanical performance.
