Taylor Fritz Wins in Five Sets to Reach US Open Final

Taylor Fritz (No. 12) beats Frances Tiafoe (No. 20) in five sets 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to reach his first Grand Slam final. Tiafoe was up two-sets-to-one, and started to slow down and fatigue towards the end of the match. Fritz was able to pull through to win a close fourth set, and win the fifth set in commanding fashion.

Fritz will now face World No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Sunday, who defeated Jack Draper earlier in the day 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-2. Sinner won his first Grand Slam title earlier this year in Australia, and this matchup with Fritz will be his first US Open final.

Fritz will be the first American man to play in a Grand Slam final since Andy Roddick lost to Roger Federer at Wimbledon in 2009. If Fritz is able to get past Sinner, he will become the first American man to win a Grand Slam title since Andy Roddick at the US Open in 2003.
