The UFC returned to RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, on Saturday with a fight night card headlined by a light heavyweight fight between contenders Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes. Coming just one week before the highly anticipated title rematch between champion Magomed Ankalaev and former two-division champion Alex Pereira at UFC 320, the bout offered both Reyes and Ulberg the opportunity to make a statement in the race to become the next title challenger.
Main Event: Carlos Ulberg def. Dominick Reyes via KO, Round 1, 4:27
Carlos Ulberg had a statement win at UFC Fight Night Perth, scoring a stunning first-round knockout over seventh-ranked light heavyweight Dominick Reyes.
The opening round unfolded at a measured pace, with Reyes hesitant to engage while Ulberg steadily applied pressure with leg kicks and well-placed punches. Though neither fighter fully opened up early, Ulberg’s composure and control were clear as Reyes struggled to find his rhythm.
With less than a minute remaining in the round, Ulberg capitalized. A stiff jab followed by a right hand dropped Reyes to the canvas, and Ulberg sealed the win with two heavy follow-up shots before the referee stepped in at 4:27 of Round 1.
The third-ranked contender has now extended his winning streak to nine, dating back to February 2022, solidifying his case as the next title challenger in the light heavyweight division ahead of next week’s UFC 320 championship bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.
