Production of the iconic VW Bus stopped in the 1970s, and over the years, the Microbus has become an iconic vehicle around the world. In 2025, VW is bringing back their bus with a modern electric version: the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The Buzz replicates the shape of the original because it is electric. Since no space is needed for an engine in the front, the design maintains an upright front while also providing better performance to meet modern crash safety standards. The ID. Buzz follows the original design intent of the Microbus by maximizing interior space while maintaining the smallest possible vehicle footprint.

The battery is located underneath the ID. Buzz and provides an estimated range of 234 miles for the rear-wheel-drive version and 231 miles for the all-wheel-drive version. It can charge from 10% to 80% at a fast charging station in about 20–30 minutes.

The ID. Buzz features two-tone paint in classic colors, large windows surrounding the vehicle, and a giant “VW” logo on the front and rear, similar to the original Microbus.

The ID. Buzz starts at $59,995 for the “Pro S” version, with the Pro S Plus priced at $63,495, and a launch-only 1st Edition available at $65,495.

The ID. Buzz combines nostalgia with modern technology and offers a fitting tribute to the classic VW Bus while embracing the future of electric transportation.
