Nike is bringing anime nostalgia to the sneaker world with the release of the Air Max 95 QS YGO “Joey”, inspired by Joey Wheeler from the Japanese series Yu-Gi-Oh!. The collaboration, part of Nike’s .SWOOSH initiative, releases globally on September 12 in two colorways: the blue “Joey” colorway and a Japan-exclusive grey “Jonouchi” version.

The Air Max 95 QS YGO “Joey” is a recreation of the sneakers Joey wore in the anime, blending authenticity with Nike’s craftsmanship. The sneaker features layered blue paneling, lace loops drawn from the original artwork, and scratch-like detailing that mirrors Joey’s sneakers in the series. Hidden design touches include a lateral forefoot Air unit, a Yu-Gi-Oh! logo on the outsole, card-inspired graphics on the heel, and custom sockliners printed with Joey and his Red-Eyes Black Dragon. The tongue tag replaces the traditional Air Max branding with “Air Muscle”, further connecting the sneaker to its anime roots.

The sneakers come in exclusive packaging that includes custom playable Nike x Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Cards, marking the first official collaboration between Nike and KONAMI to co-create cards for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Alongside the sneakers, an apparel collection will release, featuring pieces that tie directly into the anime’s aesthetic and storytelling. The Air Max 95 QS YGO “Joey” will be available globally on September 12 through SNKRS and select Nike retailers for $210.
